You may very well have a hard time trying to get time off to interview when you first start.

If the money is below market, have them check with the hiring manager for a better offer. It will buy you some time.

That's the awesome thing about job hunting at the beginning of the year. You will get multiple offers, after New Year's. All the requisitions start getting approved by people that had been out on vacation. If the salary is below market, you can just hold out. The first quarter is good for new requisitions. The second quarter is good for replacing people that quit in the first quarter. Corporate hiring slows down and layoff announcements are made in the 4th quarter.

More opportunities will come along.
