Yeah I think 4 months is getting a bit ridiculous. See what the offer is next week, if it's better than the other one then take it, if it's not negotiate to where your verbal offer is and take it. Don't wait around for them to get back to you, you're doing the right thing by continuing to interview. After I leave an interview I go home and get right back to applying no matter how I feel I did.

You're counting chickens from your eggs again.
Right now you don't have an offer so there's really nothing to "hold out" for.

There is no offer, as jaypee said it is "lip service" at this point.

An offer comes in written form, with a start date and the salary listed.

No such thing as a verbal offer. Either it's email or mailed to me to sign or it's just a bluff.

They atleast could have did a email scan of the offer letter like one job did with me so you would have some type of confirmation. But the fact that it's still waiting to be signed is why that didn't happen and you should just focus on the other interviews this week

I agree with Jaypee. You have interviews next week, beyond that you don't know what will happen. Look what's taken place with this other job. It's all unpredictable.

This happened to my husband, he actually got a written offer, but when he counter-offered, he never heard from them again. He tried calling, emailing, etc. They didn't even have the decency to tell him they'd changed their minds.

This was Amazon in Seattle.

It can happen. I had a six week wait between verbal and written offers once. Don't give notice. Just keep on going.

Just another update, on week 5 of waiting for a hard copy offer letter. Called HR last week and the rep basically said don't call anymore and to hurry up and wait. Also the story has slightly changed from the letter being held up on one person's desk to being held up on multiple manager's desks (not sure when that happened?). The HR rep said they'd tried to talk to their supervisor to see where things are at time wise and that they hoped to get back to me this week but who knows.

Meanwhile I interviewed for 3 other positions. Got offered one but declined it as the pay was way lower than expected going into the process. Got passed up on another one, was over qualified for them, and awaiting the other. Fingers crossed. Starting in March I have to start making payments on my graduate loans so really need the better income. Also applied to a couple more positions.

Mainly doing updates at this point to let you all know if it actually comes through and after how many weeks/months.
