They opned the new Kit Bond bridge to limited traffic today. I had a chance to go to the bridge opening ceremony and I have to admit it is very cool looking structure. It doesn't seem like it's quite wide enough to me, going from 4 lanes to 6 lanes. For all that money shouldn't they have 8 lanes????

It's actually wide enough for eight lanes, but it will be striped for six till they can or need to widen the approaches again.

Well, that makes sense. I'm glad to hear that.

They are widening the highway north of the bridge, right? I've avoided that area like the plague since the construction started.

I saw the highway work on the south side of the bridge and hopefully the improvements will cut down on the wrecks that seemed to occur there almost every day.
