Interesting. I guess Chicago must have gotten an exemption from the Feds.

There are tons of stories out there. A quick google search brings this up:

Federal shuttle bus rules tough on sports fans

I'm sure there are exceptions and I have seen them and wondered why myself, but a lot of cities dropped public transit to sports venues including DC. They have metro trains still, like Fed Ex Stadium has a metro station about a mile away, but they no longer have direct express buses to the stadium for the same reason KC doesn't.

It's subjective and dependent upon your basis for comparison. I'm originally from the upper Midwest, where it's notably drier (and cooler, on average).

Thumbs down Pay to go Festivals

I hate that this side of the state has festivals that you have to pay to participate in. I come from the east side of the state where the festivals are free to participate in. Since moving here I had flagged several festivals to go to over here on the west side of Missouri, only to find out it is going to cost me anywhere from $10 to $50 entrance fee....whaaatt!!! Forget it!!

There are many free festivals.

I think the only festival Iv'e been to that charged admission this year was the Ethnic Enrichment Commission's annual Ethnic Festival in Swope Park, and admission for that was $2.

the big ones that come to mind that cost money are Renfest/that world culture thing by the zoo/riverfest for july 4th (if you want to get inside gate)/those october drinking ones

I'm more annoyed by cover charges at P&L, $5 to get inside square, and then another cover to get into some bars? I just skip the area entirely now

Yeah, I kind of moved past tolerating cover charges when I graduated from college.

Also, that world culture thing by the zoo is the Ethnic Enrichment Commission's annual festival, and as I noted above, admission is a whopping two bucks.
