Basic survival is around 20k. I'm living off ~25k expenditures now and quite comfortably so. If I make 52k this year that'll be about 12k in taxes, which is 40k left over and 15k for saving. Been doing similar every year for the past 15 years but perhaps with different numbers. Literally anyone can sock away at least a few grand each and every year.
I'm really tired of hearing people complain about debt and being broke, it is not at all hard to be frugal, it just takes willpower and discipline.

To save $40K (or more) you had to live on about $2,300/month (or less) - in Hawaii.
Most 6 figure earners wouldn’t find that frugal - they’d probably find that miserable. I would agree being somewhat frugal at that salary should let you save $1,000 - $2,000 month.
