Why don't you stay at your job (if you work near the coast) and live aboard your own catamaran.If you work too far from the coast find another six figure job to allow it.

I do not see you owning your own boat at any time if you decide to work for 36k a year in Hawaii. You would be lucky to rent an apartment and feed yourself.

I think this is sabotaging yourself. You obviously do not appreciate the fact that you already have a lucrative job.(at least according to your title)...something many people would give their eye teeth for....yet you are thinking about throwing it away for what you think of as an adventure.

Think logically....Wait staff, cleaning the decks, making beds....waiting hand and foot for people on their vacations. And, I'll bet the 18 an hr is just for when you are working....Likely not 40 hrs a week....and insurance?

Why not do something adventurous on a vacation.....then if you really decide bailing on a good paying job to work yourself silly and live just above the poverty line in one of the most expensive places in the U.S. at least you'll know what you are really getting into.
