Moving to Kentucky. I'm 20 and need help on finding a city!
Here's the deal :
I live in Ohio right now near Cleveland. I went through the entire state of Kentucky this past weekend, through I-71 to I-65 into Nashville, TN (I didn't like Nashville). However, I REALLY liked Kentucky , it was so beautiful. I am wanting to work in, or near, Louisville, KY. I would like to live in a safe area in Jefferson Co or in Oldham Co. Those are the counties that appeal to me.
Remember that I am only 20 and I'll just be turning 21 when I actually decide to move. I would like to find an area near Louisville where I can meet people, make new friends, and have fun. I would also like to meet girls to have a girlfriend as well. What is a good, safe city to live in in Oldham or Jefferson Co? Will Louisville be a good life experience? I loved the scenary on I-71 because it was so beautiful and the weather felt really good.
I just ask help for finding a good area and I hope I don't have issues meeting people because I will be new to the area looking to have a fun time. Fill me in on this information and any good surrounding cities in KY (not IN) that are good to live in.
Thank you

Can you at least offer any good cities near Louisville, or good areas IN Louisville for a young person such as I to live in?

The only place around/in Louisville I WOULDN'T suggest is the west end. Depending on your tastes you might like Old Louisville or the Highlands with all the upbeat things to do and tons of young adults. Good luck!

Where's STX when you need him?
He is the Louisville and surrounding areas GURU! :c)
Hopefully you'll get him to respond to this thread for you!
I don't know anything about that area of the state, or I'd help you. Maybe a good suggestion would be to start a new thread with Oldham and Jefferson Counties in the thread title.. I bet you'll get more responses.
Good luck in your move!
P.S. Most people your age won't have a hard time finding things to do and people to do them with, very quickly if moving to the Louisville area!

Cities near Louisville? How about IN the city? As you know, young people live in cities. Families/old people live in suburbs or surrounding exurbs. Downtown, Old Louisville, Highlands, Crsecent Hill, Clifton, and Butchertown are your best options. If you search my posts, you will see I have described these areas many times. That is your best bet. If you want more of a suburban/urban mix, try St matthews. I would not go any further east than that. If you want a smaller town feel, try Jeffersonville, an Indiana suburb. It is also very cheap and close to downtown, with some apartments and condos for rent right on the river. PM me with questions. But, if you want to be around young people, you really need to stay in the city. Old Louisville and Highlands are great for that, as mentioned. I would loook at craigslist for cool rentals. I woiuld stray from large, corporate owned apartment complexes which are usually bland, in generic locations, and overcharge to cover their "image" and advertising fees.

As much as I hate agreeing with the above poster (sniping is so much more fun), I must admit that his points are well taken here. (ouch!)
