My family in both Indianapolis and Chattanooga felt it. This was my first earthquake or tremor.

My friends, something is happening geologically and we saw the "beginning" of this I do believe back with the December 2004 tsunami.

You are all sitting right by the New Madrid fault!!! The fault that moved was NOT the N.M. but a smaller faultline, and I think something is indeed up what with quakes in Texas, the behavior of Old Faithful, and now this.

Just an amateur here...but be on your guard, have some water and supplies at hand, a tent if you can, and read up on temblor safety!

Wow. Can't wait to move to Kentucky... Us here in CA are so used to earthquakes that all we say is "was that an earthquake?" then roll over and go right back to sleep.

But I've heard about ya'lls tornados... (I know, the last tragic one was in the 50s... )

There was a 4.2 aftershock at 11:15. I was in Annie's Pizza at 26th & Portland Ave when it happened.

One of the workers in the store joked it must have been her overweight mother in-law trying to get out of the bath tub

My husband was sick last night so he was awake when it happened but I must have been really tired because I didn't hear a thing. I did feel the little aftershock this morning though. Funny thing is I changed homeowners insurance last month and told them to add an earthquake rider. She asked me twice if I wanted the extra expense and I said yes. We did have damage here that I know of though.

Please tell me that you're kidding. How can you jump to the conclusion that "something is happening"? An earthquake every now and then is normal for this part of the country. I wouldn't think it's a sign that were getting ready to have a big one. Have a tent at hand? Hmmm alrighty then. Let's not start running for our life over this....

You know what's odd? I woke up at 5:45 when the first quake happened. I was sleeping in Lexington. I did not hear any sound or feel any shake. Maybe subconsciously I sensed something was going on but (repetition here) didn't realize it.

I didn't feel the aftershock, either. Of course, I live an hour east of Louisville, so it may have just been felt as far as Louisville from southern Illinois.

Experts predict that "the big one" has a 90% chance of happening in the New Madrid Fault by 2040... It's not going to be pretty. St. Louis and Memphis are going to be gone. I hope they are wrong and it never does rupture but if it does and it's a major one it will make Katrina look like a minor disaster.

I felt the aftershock, it was just a little bitty shake for about 5-10 seconds that feels about what it feels like when there's high winds or something.
