hi guys,i am looking for a food cart to sell hot dogs etc.anyone knows where i can find one?and what kind permit or licences i need to sell hot dogs etc?

Hi John,

You should probably do a google search for hot dog carts; I don't know any place in the Tri Cities that sells these. You will need a business license with the state of TN (Home - TN.gov) and possibly a local license; that will depend on where you set up shop. You will have to have a health inspection (food inspection) and for that you will need to speak with the Health Dept. Good luck!!! Let us know if you set up a business!

thanks for answer Beretta,well if i get a food seller permit or licence (local) for kingsport do you think i can use it in knoxville or anywhere in TN?and another question is i wanna sell sandwich ,hotdog etc on the street in kingsport is there any problem about this?is it totally legal after i get permits for it?

I would think you would have to speak with the city of Kingsport, I'm not sure where though. The planning department might be a good place to start.

I doubt that a local Kingsport license would transfer to Knoxville, where they undoubtedly do have local permits. Your state business license should be good though, AFAIK?

Good luck! We had a hot dog street vendor here in Johnson City and he was so successful that he now has a brick-and-mortar establishment.

John - I agree with jabo, I don't think that a local business license in Kingsport would transfer to Knoxville; but your state business ID would still be good.
