In the last 30 days there were 244 crimes w/i the JC city limits.
In the last 7 days there were 57.
In the last 3 days there were 20.

Off these last 20:
9 were simple assaults.
1 was aggravated assault. (aka assault with a weapon)
8 were thefts, of which 5 were shoplifting, of which 4 occurred at WalMart.
2 were vandalism.

Breaking down areas:

80% of assaults seem to occur in south JC.

In tree streets, I counted about 20 thefts since the beginning of the year, more than any other residential area. Tree streets had zero robberies and 27 assaults (2 aggravated) over the same period. At least 10 assaults appeared to be at businesses.

But the area for one mile around Carver Park had a similar amount of thefts, but 10 robberies which are much more serious, and 37 assaults (9 aggravated).

Just looking around at the stats, Carver and Keystone look like the worst areas of JC for crime.

Hmm, I think I live within a one mile radius of Carver Park. Really depends on which direction you're pointing as to how dangerous it gets.

It has always amazed me how isolated, pin point able the few areas in each of the Tri-Cities that have the crime. You can sometimes go 1 to 2 blocks away from those areas and seem like in a totally different town.
I hate to stereo type but the government housing areas always seem to be the worst for the thefts and assaults.

btw rccrain what's your source for those stats? Not that I question you at all, but it would be neat to be able to look up crime stats by street/block.

Impressive info, Rccrain! Yes, I'd like to know also, so I can keep up with how things are improving (or not). Or you can update me monthly, your choice.

Lots of this going around. Also be aware of storing things in storage units. My brother & his wife were robbed blind
Lock cut & cleaned out one week before they closed on theirhouse. This was South of JC. I wont mention the name. We suspect it was an inside job. The sneak week my parents lakehouse was burglarized. Insurance is key especially for renters & its only $27 a month. Police reports made but no luck finding peeps or items. Electronics especially easygoing move. Its just a different world these days. :-((

Angry re: GPS

If you have the serial # & someone uses the device I wondering if it could be tracked. I know this is an old post but curious. I am getting some asset tags for my electronics that cannot be removed like they use for school laptops. At least make them harder to unload for profit
Every time I go to the flea mkt I wondering how much stuff is "hot" sad.....

I don't think GPS systems have that ability ... or at least the makers won't admit the capability. There are aps for the "advanced cell phones" that can "phone home". Seems like there should be a program available for computers too. After a theft, you aught to be able to report it, and track its location every time it accesses the web.
