Look at the difference between Purchase Knob in NC and Look Rock in Townsend, TN. The former is just over 5,000 feet in elevation and the latter is just over 2,600 feet.

Was just up in the mountains this weekend, anything above 4000 feet has very few leaves or none at all. There was tiny bits of snow clinging to mountainside near New Found Gap. Nice colors at around 2500- just over 3000 feet. Mid range is where they are now. The cold nights will change everything quick from here out.
