I know this may seem stupid to ask but here is an article from the knox news about alligators in TN. It's seems the article is talking about Nashville. Has anyone heard of any alligators in any of our area lakes? Someone made a comment on the article and said they heard there was one in Ft. Loudon Lake. Could that be true? I know there are gators in GA but can they survive up here? That would really stink. I really didn't feel comfortable around water in FL because of gators. It feels great now being able to walk up to a body of water and not worry about a gator coming after you.

I think they are referring to pet gators that are growing too large for home aquariums. Idiots turn them loose in local waterways! We even had one in Southern California for awhile.

Are you guys from Florida bringing your pets with you? I sure hope you leave those big roach bugs you can saddle up in Florida.

Today, I heard the fire ants are coming over the Tennessee border.

We have gators in the Tennessee River here in north Alabama, imported some 30 or 40 years ago to reduce the beaver population. They are doing pretty well. So I wouldn't be surprised to find gators around there. They hibernate in the mud during the winter, so it's possible.
No, I"m not kidding!

Gosh I hope not. I'm sure I left every critter in FL except my pups! I swear my yard turned into Jurrasic Park after dark in FL. I hated going in the back yard. There are some frightening bugs out there!

Oh, how cute, Bones!

I've lived here three years and have yet to be bit by a mosquito. I've had ants, but not the type that bite. Lots of beautiful fireflies at night, though. I stay up every night, even when I am suppose to be in bed, just to watch the show.

Alligators? Give me a break. That's like someone spotting a python in New England. It's a good, quick news story, but it has nothing to do with reality.

Default Fl animals

Yes, cockroaches in Florida are big enough to put saddles on them so I left mine in Florida, now Gators can STAY in FL except for the Gator meat, its delicious if cooked right, in fact Islamorada fish Co in Bass Pro has it on their menu.

LilcabinGirl,

There have been times when an alligator would make the news only to learn that someone had a pet they released. As a young boy swimming and fishing the local waters to 50 years later no Gators to report. With all the Bass fishing going on the gator would not stand a chance. Check with local Game & fish.
