Which local banks in the Knoxville area would you recommend?

I bank at BB&T and really like their service. I used to bank at the green bank and didn't care for how their service changed.

I use Bank of America but only because I've had them for 10 years since I lived in Memphis where they're all over the place. They have only 3 branches in the entire Knoxville area, unfortunately.

My parents use Regions Bank and LOVE it. In every Regions Bank they've ever visited (FL, NC, TN) the service has been excellent and friendly, and my parents are very pleased with what Regions offers.

My son used Bank of America at MTSU in Murfreesboro. He has struggled with them here in this area because of the limited locations. We use several credit unions in the area and the only bank we have used is 1st TN and they've been fine. I was on jury duty with a Regions bank manager from Lenoir City and she was a great lady.

As far as credit unions, we like ORNL, Eastman (based out of Tri Cities, office in Sevierville and they are on the Money Wall), but don't care for Y-12 or UT.

If you want a bank that is everywhere in the Southeast, Suntrust and Regions are probably good.

Suntrust didn't have as service that I wanted (Signature Guarantees), so happened to call some local banks here in Knoxville. First Tennessee Bank was very nice and didn't care that I did not have an account with them.

I'm about to select a new bank for myself, so you question is timely. I just don't know if I want to go with a local bank. When I travel, I may want to pull a big chunk of cash from the bank and ATMs only allow $350.

That said, I have never needed to pull anything over $300... but I might!

We use FSG. I love everything about them but their inconvenient hours.

We use First Tennessee, started with the East town branch in Knoxville and use then here in Dandridge. We have always been happy with them and we both felt that they offered more then our banks in previous states.
Another thing I am impressed with at First Tn. is here at the Dandridge branch, they accept all utility payments for their customers only.

I use Home Federal Bank. They are a local bank, but there are about 24 locations in the area. I never have to go far to find one.

Their rating is always excellent, so you know that your money is secure. A lot of large banks are in some financial trouble, but not Home Federal.

A lot of banks fee you to death, but I haven't found that to be the case with this bank. I have a checking and saving account, as well as a Visa debit card and online banking. I think the only thing I pay for are checks!

In every branch I have been in the employees are always helpful and have treated me with the utmost respect. Best bank I have ever had.

Here's another vote for BB&T. Service both in FL and TN have been outstanding. However, Regions was a close second choice. Since our current bank isn't in the Knox area, we needed to chose one that serves both areas.
