This weekend should be peak for many areas of the Smokies, though the higher elevations may already be past peak. I'm guessing another week or so to peak here in Knoxville.

I think even parts of Knoxville now are at their peak especially the area around West Knox and Cedar Bluff area.

Cades Cove was colorful yesterday (on the decline, though) but the most colorful part of that visit is a stretch of road before the loop and after the underpass/tunnel. It is totally golden.

I was planning to go to the Maggie Valley (NC) until they had the rock slide. They say I-40 starts being closed at exit 20 but I couldn't tell if that meant Exit 20 was the last exit to get off or Exit 20 is the first exit closed. I guess I'll pass until next year because if I was detoured, I'd be lost.

Yesterday was the last good day for full color. Rain today is bringing it down. What a year for yellows!

I agree! I saw some gorgeous reds up in Johnson City but the yellows were the stars down this way. So sad that the rain is taking them all away today. <sigh>

Yeah you're right, went to Oak Ridge and its starting to get past peak. Early frost It always amazes me how the city can be several degrees warmer than outlying areas. I'm still picking peppers!
