In particular, I'm looking for apartments or other rental property that would place my daughter in Hillside, Desert Hills, Sonoma, or Highland Elementary Schools. Our budget is under $1,000. Looking for 2 bedrooms with a playground or park nearby if possible.

I don't know what rents are, but there are several complexes on Roadrunner Parkway that would put you in one of those schools.

High Range Village Apartments
Quail Ridge Apartments
Copper stone
Tuscany Villa (this one is pricey, I think)

A little farther east:
Casas De Soledad
Cuestas
The Missions

I don't think the forum rules permit references to specific apartment rental agencies, but if you type the following into the Google search window, you'll find several near the top of the page that indicate apartments are readily available for less than $1,000/mo.

"Las Cruces Apartment Locator"

If you've heard anything good or bad about a particular place, I'd appreciate that info as well. Thanks to those who have replied so far.

Thank you, Poncho. I've seen those already but most don't give many recommendations or not in the area I'm looking for. I suppose most others on here are homeowners. Oh well, it was worth a shot.
