Yup!! Las Vegas is such a great place that we have tons of jobs. Many people want you to think that. There are no jobs here. Stay away!! Or you can move here so you can join our unemployed workers and push that percentage up!

mod cut:

All in the delivery I guess. The employment rate in Vegas is 86%, .2% worse than last month. That number is 1.7% better compared to the same time last year.

Is .2% a sign of anything really? Not a plunge, not a recovery.

I will say that we have defied mathematics by having 105% of the the Nevada population's employment status accounted for.

when 75% of the people are working with 30% unemployment we will declare a miracle and build Las Vegas another 10% on the pilgrims. Probably get a lot of people who don't calculate very well.

Thank you for pointing that out! It was corrected. But you get my point. When unemployment is at a ALL TIME high, do you still tell people to move here knowing that this is a terrible place to secure employment or do you lie to them?

The state unemployment rate is not a secret. Why do you think you were lied to? It seems like you feel people have unjustly been promised work here.

Also, do you really think a state could have 30% unemployment and be surrounded by states with 8-12%? People would and should relocate to where the jobs are. Why are you still holding on?

Unemployment is a really misleading statistic that sparks fear and intense emotion into otherwise intelligent people. It's a misleading statistic, from an individual point of view, in that it looks at past performance for indicators of future results. It screws with people's heads and makes them doubt their personal potential.

Why should anyone listen to what we, as a collective bunch on CD, have to say? It does no good, other than stroking one's sense of self importance, to constantly declare the sky is falling or that everything is great. It's an individual perspective. Broad strokes and strong opinions don't help the individual. They simply lead to meaningless proclaimations and a message board continually declining towards "not worth reading."

Unless a person is here trying to make a solid acquaintance, network...to find that needle in a haystack that might lead to a job or a gig...constantly beating the drum doesn't help anyone.

It looks like we have another LVD here. I love it. Welcome to the doom and gloom club.

Not saying the UE rate here is good, but again, your statement is simply FALSE. Unemployment for every month in 2010 was higher than the current number, and much of 2009 was also. Bureau of Labor Statistics Data

Edit: Also your statement: "There are no jobs here" is clearly false as well. 812,200 people are employed in the LV metro area. I don't contest your general sentiment that the labor market here is not good; I just strongly contest your sensationalist rhetoric and absolutist false statements. Such an approach helps no one.
