Serious questions.

We are considering buying a vacation property in Centennial Hills or Aliante.

- Are those areas open minded and welcoming to non white folk (Indians...as in from India, not the other kind )?

- My elderly dad (originally from India) wears a turban...will be mistaken for (and harassed) as an Arab!

- What will be a good area to buy into if not Centennial Hills or Aliante?

- We will only be there a few weeks/months a year but don't want the 'looks'. ...and no there won't be any curry smells wafting out of our place!

Please respond and thanks kindly.

I have seen a couple of Indians native to India in Aliante. My current supervisor is one of them. He has no problems or Issues living up that way.

Uh, you'd be surprised how stupid people are about race. I've seen people mistake Indians for Arabs a few times. It's not an overt racism, but I bet there will be a few looks if the father wears a turban.

I would actually say it's the opposite. Not just in Las Vegas but the majority of people are absolutely clueless about this.

I think you're giving the average joe a little too much credit. While you and I may be able to distinguish the Indian guy at 7-11, or the Armenian guy at the smoke shop who insists on calling everyone "chief" from an Arab, most cant.

OP: Vegas is a pretty diverse melting pot.

I use to live in Silicon Valley and I was surrounded by Indian people. Since I moved to Vegas, I seldom see Indian people here and the only ones I do encounter are mostly medical doctors. I'm sure it wouldn't be a big deal in the NW part of town, but there are some ignorant people who cannot distinguish a Sikh vs. Muslim! Big difference!

Doesn't much matter where you buy. No one cares about that here. This is the least racist place I've ever lived.

And it's not likely you're ever going to see your neighbors, anyway. So I agree, it doesn't matter.
