Soooo I am moving in 1.5 weeks to LV and met with some moving companies here in Seattle ... 2,200 to move a 1bdrm apt? Seems crazy to me. Now I am thinking I might "Noah's Arc" my move, if it doesn't fit in my car it doesn't go.

Last time I moved there I bought stuff from Walker. Any other good suggestions? I will be furnishing a 1bdr apt and would like to stay around 2K if possible.

There was some poster on here recently who furnished their summer home fully for about $2700.00. I think it was a Canadian poster. Any of the regulars remember the post? I think it might have been I love my condo, I love Boulder Hwy area, etc?

I believe they (she?) mentioned Cort. If I'm not mistaken it's a rental store that sells clearance furniture, there's one near the Beltway & Buffalo.

You're right, Event. It was Cort. I found the post, I'm just not sure how to link back to one found in an archive. (I'm rather new on the board even though I have the "senior poster" title because I blab too much and racked up a lot of posts)

try craigslist... I see stuff on there all the time that is a great deal. it might take some time to piece together a complete apt's worth, but I bet you will be happy.

Thanks for the responses guys - yeah CL can be ok, one issue though is often times they want you to pick it up and my Acura won't be hauling a couch anytime soon

Any other suggestions aside from Walker or Cort? Any experience with Ashley or other local furniture stores? Ashley has this deal going on where you can get a 14 piece living room or bedroom set for $799.

I am kind of wondering what delivery times are like as well. When I did this 5 years ago it seems like it was only a few days. After scanning a few posts it seems like people are waiting a few weeks?

We have been furnishing our house with some stuff from CL. There are delivery people on CL that will pickup and deliver for around $40 depending on the situation. There is a delivery person that I have worked with before that is very reasonable and dependable. PM me for info.

So many people come and go here the deals on CL are amazing. Many folks just like you find it's too expensive to move furniture cross country. There are many delivery people around too. It's reasonable.

Anything aside from CL? I am sure some of you folks out there have experience with the local furniture stores. I am almost thinking of just going to Ashely in Seattle, picking it out, placing an order over the phone in LV and have the delivery day coincide with my arrival. Done and done.
