Well...truthfully, there is a lot...a lot of nothing! There is the mother of all ghost towns, Rhyolite...and you could pass through the town of Pahrump, and visit the chicken ranch.

Then again, you could also stop at Jean and buy a Hummer from a toothless hooker.

You really dont have to drive that traditional way going 95 north, you can always take the long way and its all freeway. I've made it to sacramento in 9 hours and another 2 hours to reno. I go 15 south, 58 W, 99N, 80 E towards Reno. Pretty much all freeway except for parts of 58

Southwest has flights about every hour between Reno & Las Vegas, its about a 55 minute flight. I've done the trip that way a lot of times too.
