Very interesting to read over the last month on how long they anticipate the housing problem to last. Also very interesting to read yesterday or day before on how they predict Vegas will have another boom as soon as those 3 mega resorts come on line in 2010-2012. Hope so, I'll be there by then.
Hard to say how many realtors are unemployed. They don't qualify for unemployment insurance so no claims are filed. Maybe somebody keeps track of them though.

The El Sombrero at 807 S. Main has been there forever. Used to be about the best Mexican food in town but I haven't been there in years. It's just a hole in the wall but those are usually the best places.

I eventually (I'm young) want to work for the United States Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and the experience with NHP will prove to be in-valuable in the near future. LVMPD may not be a "filler" job, I can see myself staying here. I love my line of work and will do it where I can. My fiance makes alot more than me so if she finds a job somewhere else after school, then we will go. Every town has cops so it doesn't matter to me.

You drive taxi, and I am going after commercial enforcement, no wonder we do not see eye to eye. That is like the Butcher and PETA getting along.
If NHP pay is anything like what the State pays the rest of us you might be taking a cut. The county is the best paying of all government positions around here. But if you have a goal, money probably won't hold you back.

No doubt the lack of new home construction is probably THE factor. Look at how many other businesses would be affected, from mortgage companies to the people who supply the lumber. However, on the bright side (sorry Sheriff, I know you hate bright sides) the major commercial projects going on around town have taken up a lot of the slack from housing construction.

Oh, and guess what industry brought us out of it each time? Could it be...gasp...gaming?

Like I said...economy goes south, people come to Vegas to forget their troubles.
Good ol Gaming......
Way back in 1962 there was a piece of property for sale for the exhorbitant price of $25,000.....[the corner of Las Vegas Blvd and Sahara.....the El Rancho] Asked a Casino Manager what he though about it for a place to put some money I had....he said DON'T TOUCH IT....if they build one more slot machine in this town the town will fold......I did'nt.....and I no longer listen to those "In the know...." VEGAS WILL SURVIVE ALL"

Wholesalers blocks normally trim 7 days out and the unused rooms are then sold to the general public at the prevailing rate....

SOME Casinos do have a "Player only" mentality where virtually every room in the house is held back for their rated players.....this is fast becoming a thing of the past.

PS....I realize that your post was based more on your desire to be obnoxious then on your knowledge. Have a wunnerful day now....heah
Don't aim to be obnoxious, just comes naturally--but I do want to know these things; LVCVA 2006 @39mil visitors--what's a visitor, a registered guest, average stay 3.6 days, how many per room, what's the max that can register in a room, etc.

Clark County revenue over 1 million.

Gaming is now 47% of revenue and dropping.

and you do it so well.... I have NEVER figured out how the LVCVA arrives at anything.....they still don't know that the downtown area has hotels......

My occupancy figures come from my daily occstats report which show, to the room, how many parties slept here.....actually shows the number of PEOPLE but that is skewed by the number that sneak in the extra persons to avoit the charge.

Overall figures come from the LV Hotel/Motel Association which is sometimes skewed by the fact that not all hotels belong or report.....

But by lumping them all together and applying a touch of witchcraft.....they come up with their numbers.....MINE I Know are accurate....theirs are.....also numbers.

And you are correct.....gaming % is dropping because Hotels,
entertainment, food etc are not a part of "GAMING" revenues.
