I'm in a bad situation, likely to be homeless in a few days. Never imagined I would ever be facing something like this, so I don't have any idea what to do or what resources might be available to get through this temporary nightmare. First and foremost for me at this point is my dog. With the high temps now through the rest of summer, he can't live in a car or on the street with me, if that's where I end up. He deserves and needs better. Is there a shelter or animal group that can take him in?

Before it gets to the point of you living on the street, contact these people for emergency help. Help of Southern Nevada

There are also many breed specific rescue groups in town for your doggie. What kind of dog is it?

If you are indeed about to become truly homeless, get yourself a cheap gym membership at a gym with shower facilities. That way you can stay groomed for job interviews and such. Free wifi is available at most McDonald's locations, and the library is your friend. You can use the computers and stay cool in there.

Best of luck to you and your dog.

If you tell us what kind of dog it is, maybe someone here can give it a temporary home until you get on your feet. Lots of nice people here.

Is it too personal to share a little of your back story? People here are pretty resourceful and maybe, someone might have a suggestion so you can get back on your feet and take care of your pet.

Don't give up. There are agencies that
Help the homeless get of the street.
But living like that is very hard on
Mind & body. Just had a friend who was
Not homeless anymore die as the hard
Life caught up with her.
Take care of yourself.

Thank you all for the kindness and good advice. My boy is a mixed breed, 4 yrs old - maybe a Corgi/Terrier mix, 35lbs, so wouldn't be qualified for any of the pure breed rescues. Backstory? Poor financial decisions and toxic relationship. At 50, I don't expect any sympathy. I dummied up and poor decisions have consequences. Am I scared? Yep, terrified. But I can't subject my loving, sweet dog to those consequences. He deserves better.

You don't have to live on the street. Are you working? If not, what kind of work can you do? Sorry to be so personal, but you may options yet.
