Guess I didnt' understand. I can drive away...??....at major resorts without taking customers?-- Are you sure? I hear you get fired for this....?????

I am kinda scared in Vegas, but I'm not a baby. I have repossessed cars, ran collection agencies, appeared in court hearings for 30 years, I have a 6th sense on things. I can talk my way out of things... I've had knives at my throat, and been shot at. I have lived last 30 years in Oregon; so my eyes are slowly opening here in Vegas!....
Thanks everyone....I cannot post from my phone, but I can SEE your posts tonight from my phone....

I'm tall, lean, older, long dark hair. Drive Checker. If you see me in line, come see me. . Thanks.
Be careful out there and trust your instinct.

Why are there hardly any women driving?
Anecdotal evidence at best but from the few I knew quitting was commonly due to stress and schedule.

So, Cyborg- I'm confused. I drove up to Luxor, and that's where they got in at, & said going to Miramont, and then argument amongst all 3 customers, over name of complex & where it was....???.
First off the doorman was being lazy! The doorman should have set them aside until they worked it out...good doormen will do this.
Secondly, since the doorman wasn't doing his job I would sit there and tell them to decide or catch another cab...be polite but firm. By the time you say that the doorman will be motioning you to go. Now, roll down the passenger window and tell the doorman that they don't know where they are going. This puts it back on him and hopefully he'll learn to do his job so it doesn't back up his line. If you don't put the pressure back on him then he'll stay lazy and you'll be stuck with a crappy ride. He may even pull them out and give you another ride.
You should be watching the people as they get in line and wait. If you are next and the next people are looking like trouble, just drive right on through the thru lane to find another ride elsewhere. Don't make it a habit but do it if needed. You won't get in trouble. What will get you in trouble is creating a scene under the porch.
Now if the people aren't being trouble but just politely indecisive pull up out of the way and wait...with the meter ON.

So a few days ago, a guy walked into my side mirror at the airport. Today, I get allll the way to work, they tell me I have to go to the counseling for it. Couldn't tell me yesterday, or even call me so I don't get u insanely early and waste gas.
Anyway, I might be needing a new job.

I don't think so, but I'm no authority on the matter. [post moved]

From what I gather, no. The cab companies seem to have a pretty good hold on the business.

There was an episode of Taxi (70s sitcom) where the Danny Devito dispatcher character (dick) and the Andy Kaufman (lovable foreign goof/nice guy) are in a contest to make the most. Devito pulls every trick and has somewhat more on the meter. Then the question "do tips count" is asked on the radio. Yes, tips count and Devito loses by a lot. :-)
