Washington pays better and has more opportunities in the field you're going into. I'd also suggest Redmon, WA. I looked at the school you mentioned in Riverside. It wasn't difficult to find but honestly what was offered seemed like it was low tech to me. I guess starting out in Seattle and working your way up is always a possibility too. Maybe it will be enough to meet your needs at first if you have your mate moving with you.

However, it's not a field to start out in for the current degree field you were mentioning because it's a top 15 market. Most people have to work their way up to the top 50 and don't start out in it. I pretty much figure you've given up on that completely and it isn't even a consideration.

Good luck!

Seattle is more expensive than Vegas. If you're a high skill, high income professional, that can work, because there are a lot of high paying professional jobs in Seattle. I think being a low income worker there is worse than in Vegas, and at least in Vegas, you can try and wheedle your way into the casino business and work your way to a decent blue collar job there.

Honestly, how often do you go to museums there? I thought so.
Have season tickets to the L.A. Opera? Nope.
Box seats for the L.A. Symphony? Thought not.

This whole "culture" thing is always something people say they want because it makes them feel sophisticated, but they really never participate in it if they're honest with themselves.
Agreed! People always find an excuses to not like a city, Vegas offers MORE then enough.

Every city is suburban and has strip malls outside it's main core, why does Vegas get crucified for it?

Maybe to you it offers more than enough, but to others it isnt enough. Thats not crucifying a town, it's just being realistic. With the increase in population its not a bad thing that many people decide to go elsewhere.

The comments on here seem right on to me who moved here three years ago. I am much, much older and wish I was in my thirties trying to make it in this city, but that ain't likely to happen. LOL. Frankly, Las Vegas is not for me, but I can see that a young couple could have lots of fun and find a good job, if you know how to find one. Too bad you did not study to be a teacher since the county had to hire 2000 (!) new teachers this year and still needs 200. The last openings will be filled by substitutes. For those positions, you do not even need to be a college graduate and still make money while maybe becoming a licensed teacher. The local entertainment rag lists hundreds and hundreds of events running here. You could go out every night of the week to something. Without a doubt, the outdoors would be the place to go, if i were you. They even have skiing here and its only about an hour away. Camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, exploring are what I would do, if I were you. Of course, you do have to work, so don't worry too much about after work activities as long as they are available when you want them. Good luck in finding your way.

Vegas has MORE then enough, world class dining and entertainment, zero state income tax, plenty of outdoor activities what more do you want?

Unless you like living out in the country or just a boring type of person then I see no way Vegas just isn't enough (outside the beach).

There are lots of places that are pretty close to that. To me Vegas is just mediocre and can improve on a lot of fronts, but its not the worst place to live either.

Consider yourself lucky you enjoy it here, but don't assume it makes others as happy. For those who are considering a town, they need to know it comes with good and bad and there are many other places which may or may not be suitable as well.

Why are you still living in Vegas if it's not your place? Why is anybody for that matter ? Move?? Hello?
