Have not had a pom pom session in a while so...

Recent interactive map on WaPo shows the physical desirability of US counties. The factors were warm winters; winter sun; summer temperaturers; low summer humidity; topography variation; water area.

Clark County finishes 140 out of 3111 US counties. Right next to Phoenix who was 139. Nye a little better yet at 120.. So the hot southwest finishes in the top 5%.

The best scores are in California...Ventura is nuimber 1. The midwest and northeast do badly.

There is a pretty good correlation between these ratings and population shift. The data though is relatively old. there is a link to the actual study in the WaPo article.

Only because Hawaii and our territories weren't included in this study.

Yep LVOC go step outside today and tell me what great weather we have...don't melt. Furthermore I can name many other places with warmer winters that I would rather be. If people really think being in the middle of the desert is "physical desirable" location I feel sorry for them. There are much nicer places to live.

There are four counties in Hawaii. They may well score as well as the CA counties but will make virtually no difference in the placement of Clark County.

Working on my patio as we speak.. err.. type. I still find it silly that people move to the desert and don't like the heat. "Jeez, I REALLY hate cold.. I should probably up and move to Oymyakon, Russia, IMMEDIATELY".. LOL

All you doomers jumped right in. And the reason LV and Phoenix are not in the top ten is that temperature today. And I just named a few thousand that would be worse places to live at least in terms of climate and surround.

And people vote all the time on the middle of the desert by moving here. You have not noticed?

Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Guam, Alaska.....

I'll bet plenty of Alaska would even beat out Clark County, if this study was complete.

And notice that San Bernardino County rates highly. So, obviously, this study has flaws. My hometown did well, of course. And maybe that's the takeaway -- if you move from a [excrement]hole, Las Vegas looks great by comparison!

It's not about people who "don't like the heat". This type of heat is very dangerous...like and dangerous two different things.

Besides, it's not the heat. It's the stupidity.
