It says US Department of Commerce Economics and Statistics Administration - US Census Bureau and looks official.

I'm confused because I thought the US Census stuff was every 10 years. It says it's a 2015 National Content Test. Is this just for our area or all over?

Haven't received one. Hope its not a weird scam to steal identity info from people. I trust nothing much these days.

A little Googling says Maricopa County, AZ and Savannah, GA were the two test sites chosen for census tests in 2015. Is your mailing address in one of those areas?

Uh, never mind, that's something different. I think this is what you got:

That bit about the two test sites in GA and AZ is what I found online too. Didn't see the other part about only 1.2 million households got a test packet where they really want to see if you fill it out online. When I was reading the packet I thought that was interesting they gave us the online option to fill it out now.

The Census Bureau does a lot more than just the census. They also collect demographic information, economic information, etc. See here for more information about the National Content Test.

Hmm, I filled it out online last night and it said I'd get an email verification but I've never received one. Should I go ahead and fill out the paper version too and send it in? This is weird we got this in the first place. Why am I always getting the weird mail!?

I got one and the envelope said something like, it was mandatory to fill it out. That's when I threw it out. If it's real I'm sure we'll hear more about it. If not, it's already in the recycling area of Republic.

I guess I could wait and see if a census worker comes knocking on my door too. I did already fill it out online. Just never got the email confirmation.

I just got the confirmation email from them.

Quote:
U.S. Census Bureau Today at 8:27 AM

Thank you from the U.S. Census Bureau

This email is to confirm that we have received your responses to the 2015 National Content Test and you have been counted. If you receive a postcard or letter asking you to fill out the 2015 National Content Test survey, you may ignore these requests. At the time we received your online answers these pieces of mail were already in the postal service system and we were unable to cancel the delivery. Thank you for completing the 2015 National Content Test.
I think it's interesting they say to ignore the mail as they couldn't cancel it because the mail has the 14 digit code on it that you have to enter to do the survey for their Census. I guess I'll see what the mail is if there is more.
