Not gated, but most of the streets entering the neighborhood have been closed off, so there is little traffic. Most people don't even know it exists.

Does not need to be gated...the spirit of Oscar towers over the neighborhood.

Both LVCC and Scotch 80's are terrific. As Olecapt stated though, LVCC does have some rentals, while the Scotch 80's is mostly owner-occupied, and never in the $1200 range, unless it be a guesthouse, pool house, or the like. Once inside the gates of LVCC, you'll mentally be miles away from the hustle-bustle of LV.

To take a tour of Scotch 80's, go south on Shadow Ln. from Charleston.

Wouldn't it be much easier and much cheaper to buy the gigantic parcel of land across the street - Commercial Center? It's an outdated strip mall that is poorly designed and can't be very profitable. A couple of my favorite restaurants are in there, but it seems ripe for redevelopment.

Meanwhile, developers are also trying to build a highrise on 6th and Sahara, in the strip mall where Tony Roma's and Marie Callendar's are located.

Looks to me like the Commercial Center thrives---mostly alternative type businesses; also appears each small parcel is owned by individuals, rather than one landlord.

This kind of relates to what I had been saying. People always assume - well isn't it easier to buy one large comercial parcel, or an empty lot....or apartments that just have one owner....instead of buying out individual owners? Well Wynn bought out individual owners - Desert Inn County Club is now gone. Individual owners behind Palace Station were bought out. It can, and will be done.

People don't understand, the money involved. And it is all about location, and future development plans. The whole quadrant by Las Vegas County Club is already spoken for, done. It will ALL be leveled and redeveloped in time. THE quadrant -- Sahara to Flamingo, Paradise to Maryland Parkway. We are talking developers with deep pockets, and it's all about money, profit, city and county tax revenue. Anything is possible when you have billions and billions of dollars to invest. Did anyone notice Malasky Park, on Twain and Cambridge... Malasky, friend of Wynn....... swapped for a county deal for a school... it's all happening...
