I's been 25 years since I was there, but in three years I seem to recall exactly ONE windstorm. Climate change maybe.

Lived here 17 years.

Here's my real life perceptions on your list. Perceptions aren't fact, just like your list isn't facts. they are how you choose to live your life, in the negative.

1. We Do NOT participate in any of these activities. Nor do anyone we consider 'friends.' Got news for you, these are bad choices. And you will run into these anywhere. Some activities are illegal in other cities but they are there for the taking.
Prostitution is illegal here. If it wasn't for the tourist, it would go under ground like other cities. How can you tell whose one on the strip, the way some young women dress now? They aren't forcing anyone to participate. In 17 years of living here, we still don't drink, smoke, do drugs etc.

2. I'm 60 years old, greed is everywhere. Don't work for greedy people or do business with them.

3. My only complaint is paying for parking and the BS story they give about why. I love the shopping, entertainment, and fine dining the strip offers now vs years ago.

4. Self employed so don't have experience 'getting a job here.' The better jobs have always come through connections. You have to continue to better yourself throughout life.

5. You're boring with a very limited view of life. Do you know there are 150 trails in Summerlin alone? Of course you don't with the limited list you made. Not going to waste my time listing all there is close to do in Vegas. You wouldn't do them anyway.

6. Pure bull crap. See #6 above

7. Well this might be true where you live. But it isn't for me.

8. Vegas has always been the place to off yourself. If people don't care about themselves, what are we to do? Remember the song 'greatest love of all.' If you are an addict, who isn't in recovery, you will die somehow. Whether you take your own life or the alcohol will. That is a medical fact. We are not listed like Chicago or Baltimore as top murder cities. Stop the drama.

9. Go to Palm Springs for really bad wind storms. County won't clean off the roads for weeks is BS. Where do you live, off some dirt road.

10. Where are you seeing homeless in stores and eateries? Yes you can see them every once in awhile at an intersection but they aren't carrying weapons forcing you to give to them. Many live under the tunnels.

Many people I know retired here, love it, and there isn't anywhere they want to go. Some retired two or three other places before coming here. Of course they don't gamble as most of my friends don't. Painting all retirees are derelict gamblers. losing every dime, sh***ing their pants in a casino is just the dumbest thing I have ever read. LOL

What I will say is if you are an addict of anything, including shopping, Vegas is the last place you should be. Or just a loser in life, it won't be any different for you here than Hootersville, Ark.

I think the initial poster is a troll. Casinos are close to all major cities now. Silicon Valley greed is the worst....oh yeah enjoy your homeless camps all along the west coast!

That's true for every city. Take LA for example. It's boring...once you've hiked the same dusty, rocky trails, seen the same Ocean once, visited the same Disneyland, there's not much else to do. See? Every city you spend a long time it, things get stale and boring.

Personally, I'm 10 years in Las Vegas and I love it more each day. I love the fact that it's a big city, yet still has that small feel to it. There's a ton of great international food, it's cheap, it's close to LA, Grand Canyon, Utah skiing, Lake Mead is incredible for swimming in the Summer, Mt. Charleston is great in the winter if you want to see snow, it has some very beautiful neighborhoods.

But to each their own, I guess.

Yup. Pretty much a troll post. Simply listing all the idiocy imaginable about Las Vegas.

In thousands of transactions we have come across two people who had a problem with gambling. We also know a few who are into Bingo or such. But they are well able to do it as the gambling is a budgeted item that does not threaten their life style.

Las Vegas is very similar to any SW city. It has superior access to things like the surrounding mountains and nearby national parks and southern CA..

The population does move a bit but is simply in the high normal range. It is generally in the top ten but not the top. And to a large degree it depends on how you calculate transiency. Nevada for instance is #9 on the United Van Line statistics showing a strong in bound flow. Far more people move here than move from here.

That was bit dramatic.

I do get annoyed with the beggers/homeless. They are everywhere now from one side of the city to the other.

I laugh when people complain Vegas is expensive when it comes to the strip. Our room rates are still better than most of the places I've been for vacation. Food prices vary from low-high you just have to look. I always have to pay for parking when we travel. You cannot beat Vegas when it comes to service. We are definitely faster and more friendly than a lot of other tourist areas.

Whether you find our attractions boring or not depends on what you consider fun. I think its great we have all the options on the strip, when you are tired of that we have Red Rock, Mt. Charleston, Lake Mead and an easy drive to California, Utah, and Arizona.

No sense of community is your problem. If you feel like that it is because you don't get involved.

You are complaining about wind of all things. Did you forget we live in the desert? At least we don't have to deal with shoveling snow, hurricances, tornados.

No point in talking about salaries unless we know what field you are in.

Crime, etc.- you should probably stop watching the news and go for a hike, see a show, road trip to Zion.

Beggars are EVERYWHERE. In EVERY city.

I make it a point to do something different every time I get days off. Been doing that for 4 years and I still have plenty of things left to do.

The wind is great. It helps evaporate the sweat and keep us cool.

I do 3 jobs and make more than ever.

Can't comment on community. I don't care for people so I stick to myself.

Vegas is far less greedy than everywhere else I have been.

I don't gamble or drink or do drugs.

3). Casinos are not entertainment anymore, they're there to take every last dollar from you. They charge you outrageous dollars to eat, stay, play, and now for parking. The value of your dollar is non-existent anymore, you can't even spend a decent night out without spending $300.
4). Salaries have decreased tremendously. After the economic crisis, the rate of pay for regular jobs has decreased and has never recovered plus unless you know someone you will not get a decent job.
5). It's boring...once you've hiked the same dusty, rocky trails, seen the same Lake once, visited the hotels on the strip, there's not much else to do.
6). Unless you drive to California, there's nowhere else to visit locally or within a three hour drive.
7). It's an artificial city-no substance, residents are extremely transient, no sense of community, no values.
8). Suicides and murder-suicides are all the rage. Why? Because people get in trouble. The media tries to cover up the majority of these but it's so prevalent now that they can't continue to mask it anymore.
9). The wind storms are terrible. Chicago??? It's nothing compared to Las Vegas...over here, there are 65mph storms regularly and the downpours create tremendous dangerous flooding scenarios all over the valley which causes rocks and debris to be scattered all over the roadways for weeks because the county will not sweep it up.
10). Homelessness is everywhere, prevalent and dangerous. If they don't attack you, they kill themselves, and they're all over the valley in intersections, stores and eateries.

These are just a few of the bullet points I want to stress after having lived here for the last 13 years and experiencing both the highs and lows of this city so I'm just being perfectly honest with you. I have no agenda nor personal vendetta against this city or anyone, just letting you know what to expect, Oh and one more thing...for the love of God, you seniors and retirees, please DO NOT retire here as you will definitely be throwing away your hard earned dollars and retirement income and receive nothing in return-just heartache, anxiety, pain, financial loss. I've seen it a million times, our poor senior citizens crushed in the casino because they've lost everything, ****ting their pants on the way to the restrooms, it's shameful.

I just want to be an advocate of reality because I too once was enamored with Las Vegas, but it's definitely lost its luster and is a city in big trouble. Leaving Las Vegas, for good...
You are negative person. It does NOT apply to Las Vegas only. It applies EVERYWHERE. I suggest you stop judging
