You can't have it both ways.

Just food for thought...
Bingo!

Standard public university. The University of Nevada has the two major campuses in Reno and Las Vegas. For decades it was run as Reno being the real University and LV a commuter auxiliary. The role for Las Vegas was to provide funding for Reno. Hopefully that is all changing at this point.

So I did some cursory research on google and it appears UNLV is both publicly and privately funded.

With the outrageous tuition costs most colleges are charging these days, I find it rather surprising that funding would be the issue. I think the larger issue is the lack of industry in LV - UNLV has been concentrating on degrees that are marketable to the institutions that exist here.

I agree that it would be a good thing, in general, if UNLV broadened its horizons a bit.

And most of the remaining 66% is from state grants and federal grants and/or federal student loan assistance.

I suppose you could look around on the internet for the "judgmental map of las vegas".

So, what's your story NJ Brazen? Are you actually looking to move to Las Vegas? Looking to invest? Just bored? You seem to have a lot of questions lately and are necro'ing a lot of very old threads.

Well you know the NV politicians would rather invest $750 million on a stadium than a medical campus.

UNLV owns a big chunk of land in Spring Valley, it's the UNLV Harry Reid Research and Technology Park. Clark County could build a Medical/IT campus on that land but that is not on their agenda. Land has seen very little development and has been vacant for many years but as far as the fooball stadium local politicians acted on it in lightning speed.

I was wondering the same thing. And surprised one of the two threads hasn't been closed. Certain people dislike multiple threads about the same topic.
