So, hypothetically speaking, IF we head into a recession is LV prepared? Has it attempted to diversify its economy in the last 10 years?

Yes, substantially so. That process takes time but is well underway.

Were getting low end tech jobs, fulfillment centers, and data centers. $15-20/hr stuff. Lv will never get the $200k/yr jobs to any degree.

We aren’t a coastal city so it doesn’t make sense to compare our home prices to theirs.

I'm elite. I don't want to see a recession.

I'd gladly take a $20 an hour job and benefits. I could save good money and survive off that just fine. Looking for one of those jobs right now. I own a condo that's affordable in a gated community, but I'd love to have more cushion.

I also don't have any consumer/household debt or student loan debt. I know that helps.

If anyone has any $20 an hour/full time jobs, guy with two college degrees here ready to come work for you. My current job is ok, but pays below that obviously.

This seems ok to me, Amazon and Google jobs provide good diversification and would help buoy the economy in a recession. I even read yesterday that Amazon is expanding into Henderson and building another center next to the Raider's HQ, so once these names establish a presence in an area they can easily expand and/or relocate more operations over time, which appears is what they are doing.

As for $200k jobs, making $200k would be nice to make anywhere in the US, but it's most likely going to be found in a high COL area like LA or SF, where even $100k doesn't go very far. I think as long as the job pays decent relative to the local COL, whatever it may be, you're ahead.

Just for kicks I went to Amazon's job website to see what kind of jobs they have in LV, and they do have a few high paying tech jobs, which actually surprised me. It's not a large number of jobs but I thought they only had warehouse jobs in LV so that they have any tech jobs at all in LV is interesting. And cloud and data architects don't come cheap because that's similar to what I do. So maybe they are growing their tech workforce in LV, who knows....

Are the people predicting this upcoming disaster the same ones that predicted Hillary would win in 2016?
