I have lived here many years and have never discovered any great restaurants. We have a good breakfast place. Omelete House on Lake Mead. And a decent middle of the road place in the Lakes called the Lakes Lounge which has on the weekend decent reasonably priced prime rib dinners. Cook all my own Italian and do not like Mexican. Love Cantonese Chinese and would love to hear those. Had the Golden Dragon on Tropicana but they went out of business. Would love to hear of more like that.

Vegas has a Chinatown. I bet you could find decent Chinese food there. Look up Lotus of Siam for Thai food.

I had good Italian at the Bootlegger Bistro on LV Blvd south of the strip.

Have you tried Ping Pang Pong inside the Gold Coast Casino? Our Cantonese friends frequent it.

We have lived here going on 6 years and as for what I would call great, we have not found. I get slammed every time I complain about the food in Las Vegas. I say it is made for the drunk, one-time, tourist. Don't get me wrong, I love Vegas, but I cook all our meals unless we get a slice of pizza when out.
My Thai, Vietnamese, Moroccan, and Indian are good and Spanish, real Mexican, and Tex-Mex are excellent. I can not do Chinese, but mine is still better than what you get in a restaurant here. I would not even call myself a food snob, but I lived in Spain for 6 years, Mexico, DC, Miami, Texas, and San Diego, and know good food.
We have been to some of the high-end places, but leave not satisfied. I think maybe because Vegas is transient, they have trouble keeping good people, especially after the covid.

I had a friend from Colorado visiting for a few days, we went there for lunch. It was not as good as a lot of Asian food I've had, we both felt if was not very good. It was very busy, I don't get it. The size of each dish we ordered was big enough for two, maybe that's the draw. We had lots of food left but couldn't take it with us because we had tickets to a show and I wasn't going home in time to refrigerate the leftovers. I won't go back.

Had this discussion last night - our most recent time in Vegas was 5 1/2 years and we determined that we had a favorite Pizza (Settebello), Italian (Nora's), Tapas (Forte), Indian (Spice), Steak (Herbs & Rye), Noodles (Shang Artisan) and Breakfast (Pam's).

For close to home we had normal chain (Yardhouse, BJ's, Downtown Summerlin)....never could find good mexican food...probably the best was Viva Zapata's up on Craig/I-15...but that's a sketchy area 90% of the time.

Food in Vegas IS great...but it is spread out and there's a lot of sh$t spread between the great places. We've done the good places on the strip...too overpriced and focused (rightfully) on tourism.

FYI - there are also really good Korean BBQ joints in Korea town!

Don't know what your budget is but Las Vegas has become one of the finest culinary destinations in the world. I believe if you can't find a great restaurant in LV, you'd be hard pressed to find one in NYC, Chicago, Houston, San Diego, Miami, San Francisco, etc.

I've paid lots of money to eat in all of those cities except Houston. I've had great meals in all of them. I refuse to pay the current price in Vegas or anywhere. I could eat like a king for a pauper's budget in Chicago and Naples,FL, I haven't found anything that compares here. I had better food in Champaign, IL when I lived there. Please list restaurants you like here, I'm dying to find some.

I had dinner at Todd's last night, last time I'll be going there. It was no corking fee night so I took a bottle. I sat at the bar and asked for a nicer wine glass than the bartender gave me. He had to ask permission from the floor manager and she said no, those glasses are for people who purchase bottles. I about walked out and should have. The bartender blew me off and started helping someone else who just sat down. Then a repairman came behind the bar and started to work on something right in front of me. I was grossed out, tired of waiting to place my order and asked for a table. They hassled me about that, it wasn't even 5:00 and there were plenty of tables. I discovered halfway through eating my piece of salmon that it was raw in the middle of the thickest part. I showed it to the waitress when I was done (I ate both ends) and she said she could have it cooked more for me. My plate was empty except for the slab of raw fish and the tasteless plain white rice it was served with. I passed on the offer. I don't know how he stays in business. The food is inconsistent (some of it good, some not) and the service is horrible.

The last time I went to a wine tasting there, the amount of wine they poured was miniscule. I felt ripped off and vowed not to go back. I had to be in the area last night so I tried again, it was another bad experience. Who serves plain white rice and some poorly cooked vegetables as side dishes? Honestly, I can cook better. Todd is resting on his laurels and whoever is actually cooking needs some lessons.

I don't know how far you are willing to drive but I will make the trip into town from Pahrump to eat at Honey Salt (Ft. Apace and Rampart) or Forte (Rainbow and Flamingo). Las Vegas has close to 5000 restaurants, if you can't find 2 or 3 favorites then you aren't looking very hard.
