They both seem to have gotten more businesses from my research.
Any input from anyone? Thanks
Mesquite better than Pahrump.
Boulder City even better.
Henderson is good too.
Vegas sucks.

las vegas = ~2000 ft
mesquite = ~1600 ft
pahrump = ~2700 ft

We are not talking about going up to the mountains. The comparison is between Mesquite and Pahrump. If you look at the numbers on that chart there is not a huge difference between the two.

I've lived in Phoenix and Tucson.

Those elevations are almost identical to the difference in elevation between Phoenix and Tucson. The 4 degree difference in summer highs would appear to be similar.

The main difference between Phoenix and Tucson is the night time lows in summer in Tucson are lower. While hot is hot during the day, at night Tucson was decidedly easier to take. I bet Mesquite and Pahrump are like that as well.

pahrump has more land between buildings, which also contributes to the lower temperature. while both mesquite & pahrump are retirement towns, mesquite has a higher quantity of houses on smaller lots. you can find that housing in pahrump, but it's not as prevalent

I would say St. George, Utah is a far better choice for retirement than Mesquite or Pahrump.

Parts of Vegas are nice, parts are not - like most bigger cities - but what most think of as Vegas (like the strip) is really not Las Vegas.

You really don't know, just seem to be guessing. I see you are looking for a place in Syracuse NY - I don't know why you think you know much about the Las Vegas area.

Utah is not good for retirement for many - Utah has a flat tax and makes most retirement income subject to that tax. It is one of the few that fully taxes SS and withdrawals from retirement accounts. So if make $35K in SS and $25K from 401K - pay just under $3K in taxes on the $60K - CA tax would be about $150 for the year on that income, NV would be $0. I would say saving $250/month would be relevant to most in retirement.
