Hello, I am planning to visit vegas for the 1st time in mid august from buffalo, ny. I was wondering if august was the right time to visit due to the hot weather? Is august considered a tourist season? I was assuming that during the daytime I will be in a casino..so the heat wont affect much and in the evenings I can roam around on the strip.
I am only visiting for 4 days. Any comments welcome, I am still trying to decide when to plan my trip.
thanks,
MS

It will still be plenty hot after the sun goes down, but you'll survive. Get down here!

yep....still very good chance it'll be over 100 past midnight. there are occasional nights were it doesn't fall out of triple digits. it really isn't that bad, though once the sun goes down. take your time, stay hydrated, and you'll be fine.

You ever been in Buffalo in the winter?

You are crazy. I was out showing homes in the midddle of the afternoon. Low end REPOs unfortunately which never have AC. It was still better than an average winters day in Buffalo. My experience is actually Rochester...but same difference.

I know I know. Ok how bout just a little of that cold?

Yes I know Rochester well. I fished the Genese River for Salmon during the spawn in Late October and November all through the 80s. The Kodak factory was in the shadows of the best fishing. We would stay in Sodus Point and some times Newark. Yes there is a Newark NY.

You will also get some great deals in August. Hotels offer all kinds of specials because their census is currently lower than. The only statement you made that causes me pause is "we will probably spend most our time in the casino's." Twelve hours a day in a casino, unless another plane is flying in carrying your money or you intend to play pennies all day, is unrealistic.

Certainly not me, that's for sure. That's why I chose to live in the desert Southwest and NOT Buffalo! Speak for yourself dearest DS41
