Hi,
we are from germany and will visit Las Vegas in december. We are two adults and would love to enjoy on day beside the noise of Las Vegas. We plan to take part at a horseback trail ride for a half day or a full day. Does anybody know a ranch not so far from Las Vegas that offers such rides?
We do not want to take part at on of those stupid tourist attractions where one horse goes behind the other we are really interessed in the nature, the horses and the real ranch work.
Hope you can help me.
Love to hear from you.
Nicole

Try Cowboy Trail Rides Las Vegas,NV Horseback Riding Tours in Redrock Canyon They are out at Red Rock. Also At Bonnie Springs they do have riding...some even include a ranch style lunch or dinner. I would definitely second the horseback ride in red rock canyon. Me and my fiance took one a couple years ago, the one they offer at sunset; at the time it came with a dinner afterwards--hopefully they still offer that. I wouldn't consider it even a half-day, but I'm pretty sure it was the longest ride they offered (I could be wrong on that). But nonetheless, it was amazing! Definitely the best experience I had thus far while living in las vegas (and the steak was absolutely wonderful--best cut/cooked steak I have ever had).

Yeah, the one we went on was kind of like that unfortunately--but they seemed pretty laid back there, maybe talk to them and tell them what you're interested in, and hopefully they can cut you a deal of some kind. But the kind of horseback riding you're describing would have been so much more fun, I think--good luck in finding something like that!

Whatever you do, do not book a trip with the Sagebrush Ranch. The reviews online are 9-2 very bad about this place, including accusations of possible animal cruelty. I'm told they have two different websites in order to difuse the bad pr the Sagebrush Ranch website gets.

Most horse rides here are nose-to-tail. The terrain doesn't much allow a free-for-all type of riding, too much cactus and rocky soil. Also, the companies here really have to watch out for people who have never ridden before and tailor their rides accordingly.

I would second that, when internet searching note the names for the various rides Sagebush offer. They are using a few different sites, but have failed to change the ride names so you can tell it is still their company.

We looked at a few places when my mother was over from the UK. Unfortunately, Vegas is geared up for the tourist and if you want a more authentic experience, you are going to have to go elsewhere in America.

We eventually combined our ride with a trip to the Grand Canyon West Grand Canyon West (http://www.destinationgrandcanyon.com/tours.html - broken link). The ride along the rim was fantastic, just me, my Mum and husband. The 2 guides that rode out with us shared so much about Native American life, an unforgettable experience.
