I've been looking at the new jags - they are very elegant, of course, but after Ford sold Jaguar to Tata, I've had a hard time wrapping my head around buying another one.

Will do. Ironically, I became more interested in Jaguar after the sale from Ford to Tata and the redesign of the entire line in 2009. Then when they added the further updates and enhancements to the 2012 model, it went to the top of my list (at least in that price range).
