Oh, pardon me. I forgot what it was called.

I thought it was supposed to be running tonight?

From Vegas.com

The Linq is opening in phases with the High Roller scheduled to open in February 2014. Currently open is O'Sheas Casino, Starbucks, Purple Zebra and Chayo Cocina.

Who knows...maybe they will run it tonight even if not open.

Yeah, it's too bad they didn't have it ready for New Years. It would have been a really cool place to watch the fireworks.

Fireworks have started in my neighborhood. UGH. Today is a no burn day...you would think that applies to fireworks, right?

It is weird to see them at Walmart.

What's a no-burn day? Does that mean the risk of wildfire is high and they are asking people not to burn their backyard fireplaces and things?

It is more because of poor air quality, but also due to dryness.

HIGH POLLUTION ADVISORY FOR MARICOPA COUNTY INCLUDING THE GREATER PHOENIX AREA CONTINUES THROUGH WEDNESDAY...

THE ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY IN PHOENIX HAS EXTENDED AN AIRBORNE FINE PARTICLE HIGH POLLUTION ADVISORY FOR THE GREATER PHOENIX AREA THROUGH WEDNESDAY EVENING.

THIS MEANS THAT ONGOING STAGNANT WEATHER CONDITIONS COMBINED WITH EXISTING AIRBORNE FINE PARTICLE LEVELS MAY RESULT IN LOCAL FINE PARTICLE CONCENTRATIONS THAT POSE A HEALTH RISK. ADVERSE HEALTH EFFECTS INCREASE AS AIR QUALITY DETERIORATES.

FINE PARTICULATE MATTER - ALSO KNOWN AS PM-2.5 - IS AN AIR CONTAMINANT THAT CAN AGGRAVATE HEART AND LUNG DISEASE CONDITIONS... ESPECIALLY IN OLDER ADULTS... CHILDREN... AND THOSE WITH ASTHMA. A DECREASE IN PHYSICAL ACTIVITY IS RECOMMENDED.

THIS IS A NO BURN DAY. FIREPLACE USE AND OUTDOOR BURNING IS PROHIBITED. CONSOLIDATE YOUR TRAVEL AND AVOID USING GAS-POWERED LAWN EQUIPMENT.

Enviously, L.A. and Phoenix share the lowest average windspeeds for any metro area in the country: 6.2MPH, as opposed to Las Vegas at 9.3MPH. Not to be envied, is far greater potential in these 2 cities for red alert/smog days.

I lived in Phoenix from 5/93-6/96, and I remember one bad smog day where they sent government workers home early. Never heard of that happening here in the 17 years I've lived here!

I am skeptical of an assault or other. You don't pick on 6'3" guys in good shape. And you don't mess around in Summerlin Rest Rooms in the middle of the day.

Intriguing though...and clearly hushed up.
Being he worked as a lawyer for his Dad, and Justice of Peace, perhaps he created a vengeful, stalking enemy along the way?

They've kept this very quiet. It makes me think there is more than meets the eye.

Actually, it's common this time of year, and is due to temperature inversion that traps pollutants in cold air under a layer of warm air. Yes, lack of wind does help cause it.

They did say that yesterday's conditions were partly influenced by fireworks the night before. I didn't see any expert talking about that, though. And, since a vast majority of the true fireworks in metro Phoenix were set off illegally already, it would make no real difference to tell people they could not set them off due to a no burn day.
