I watched The Final Destination last night. I can honestly say it was neither heartbreaking or beautiful. I am glad they killed everyone off so they don't keep doing more final destinations into infinity.

Have you seen "The Road"? It's based on the book by Cormac McCarthy. A very, very dark book but beautiful at the same time. I guess that's my thing. The book is one of my all time favorite books. A real tear jerker though. I love it because it shows it's possible to remain humane and dignified when faced with ultimate desolation.

I have seen it.

Did you like it? It's creepy to see what people become when they are desperate and afraid. I thought they captured a lot of the imagery form the book but the writing was so poetic and amazing, imo, you miss that in the movie. The book is like a collection of the fathers thoughts that just rip you to the core.

Have you read "The Taking" by Dean Koontz? That is a keeper book. I want to read it again a few more times. Really scary. That would make a great movie.

I never read the book, only saw the movie. Honestly, when people are so desperate that they want to eat other people's kids it scares me. It was a good movie, but it kind of horrified me.

It is really scary. I think of how people act when there is a disaster, like Katrina. They let fear justify their actions. I guess I love the book because this man took on the world even when it was so bleak. I admire that, a lot. I hope I would be like him if I was faced with what he faced.

I have an overactive imagination so I sometimes have nightmares when I read an intense scary book. Still I find myself reading them all the same. I just read one of his last summer. I have not read "The Taking." I might just see if it is at the library. I think I'm ready for a scary book.

For consistently good scares, I read the Las Vegas Review Journal every day.

The Pixies are coming! The Pixies are coming! They will be at the Joint September 25th

Also, if you like some of the newer indie rock, we have the quirky rockers Band of Horses coming.

LCD Soundsystem, Interpol, Beach House, Vampire Weekend...all coming soon. Its almost a mini Coachella happening over the course of the next few months.

I'm stoked!
I've spent too much of year going to retro 70's/80's rock bands, been to most of the tribute group bands at the Hilton every Wednesday this year,
and I'm at a crossroads now. I need to expand my listening tastes but I haven't a clue as to what these groups are all about.

One of these days, I'm going to get on Wikipedia.org, and take all the upcoming groups mentioned in the Friday's Neon section, and see if any of them have any appeal to me. Keiku Matsui, New Age singer from Japan,
at Green Valley Ranch in December I'm planning to try.

Went to see Michael Bolton at Sunset Station Sat. nite, KC/Sunshine Band last weekend, and 3 Dog Nite this coming Fri. at Silverton.

I know if Aeromyth (tribute group) doesn't come back to Vegas soon, darn! I may have to fly to some city they're playing in to see them again! What a rush, that group was!
