MSG HOUSE is as good as it gets if you want that gloppy sauce infested old school NYC China Town Cantonese style food. The home of the never ending tea pot and endless egg rolls.

So, it is definately a place that I'm going to check out when I move here in a couple of weeks. Here's a link to yelp:
I do not look too much at yelp as there are several posters who trade good reviews for free food and vice versa.

However, I stumbled across Hot N Juicy Crawfish on my last trip to Las Vegas. It is an unusual place reminding me of some of the small town crabhouses in the Chesapeake region.

Whee you enter, they place a disposable tablecloth on the table and give you a bib.

You order your crab, shrimp, crawfish, etc. by the whole pounds and a few minutes later, they bring it to your table in the type of sauce that you chose.

Their menu is very light on side dishes. Most people order crawfish and beverages although you can get pottoes and the like.

It was fun the night that I was there. However, the price per pound adds up as crabs and crawfish have an enormous amount of waste. You would do better at a casino buffet that served those dishes IMHO.

My tab for 1# of blue crab, 1# of crawfish and a coke was $26 with tip.

Hope that helps.

We like Joyful House which is on Spring Mountain by Buffalo IIRC. It's been the closest one to what we're used to in DC.

Yes, and this coming weekend they will be celebrating the Chinese New Year. It's fun. You should go. Chinatown started as an Asian shopping center and has pretty much taken over a good portion of Spring Mountain Road from I-15 to ...what? Jones or beyond? It's pretty big now.

I haven't been there in a while, but Cathay House was the best at one time, but there is indication that they have new owners and it's not as good as it once was. Still might be worth a try.

Chinese New Year's was actually last Sunday. I guess they didn't want to compete with Valentine's Day so they moved the celebration to a week later. The casinos had their events (concerts at MGM Grand and Orleans) last weekend.

My fav is Orchids Garden on Lindell and Sahara for Dim Sum (sundays only). Cheap too.
Someone mentioned Cathay House and that place has gone down hill. I went there a few times in the past year or so and it wasn't as good as it used to be.

Food Express on Decatur (by the Fantastic Swap Meet) is pretty good.
Avoid Sam Woo BBQ.... I found BOOGERS between my napkin and my plate... gross... someone threw change on the table for tip and stormed out of there that day as well.
Avoid Grand China III on the NW side of town (Durango/Farm) my sister in law and her work crew has gotten sick eating there, I got sick eating there, my BF got sick eating there, and all on separate occasions.
Michaels is pretty good, but also pretty pricey chinese food. They used to be in the Barbary Coast, but since the change, I believe they are in South Point now. I haven't been but I'm sure it's still delicious. Best peking duck I've ever had in this town.

Anyway, hope this has been helpful.

Went to Sam woo...Asked the waiter for chop sticks....he looked down his nose at me and said " Do you KNOW how to use them?"

I said...."On second thought, don't bother." and got up and walked out....went to the Great Wall on Charleston near Rancho....looks like a dump from the outside but the food is fantastic....the service is great....it's a mom n pop place run by the guy that used to be the Chef at Lillie Langtries in the Nugget [when it was GREAT]
