Sort of. The bussing piece came in later when the district refused to provide busses to the kids from Lakeview that now had to go out of their community for school. The Lakeview elders protested and actually took a petition down to D.C. at which point the district was ordered by the state to provide bussing. All in all it was a lousy time for the Malverne/Lakeview community and I think Malverne will always be perceived as a racist community b/c of all the news coverage we got in the 60's. Times change but people don't forget.
