Default place to donate food-live in western suffolk-

Hi everyone. We had a party and the caterer sent us home with trays of food-mostly deserts-but was wondering if there was a place that might like these? i would like to know of a donation place that accepts food even if they dont want what i have this time, i would like to know for next time. everything is well wrapped. thanks-

How about a soup kitchen? Call a local church or the red cross, they should be able to direct you.

It's not easy to find a place that will take prepared/perishable food - I've been there .
Finally found one: Helping Hands at 225 Broadway in Huntington Station (down the road from the LIRR)

My nephew worked in a catering hall as a waiter while he was going to high school and college. They threw out an obscene amount of food, most of it barely touched. The employees could take whatever they wanted but the rest had to be tossed into the dumpster. The owners were concerned about safe handling of any food they would have donated and were worried if it wasn't stored properly they would be liable.
