I have a 1 year old travel system (infant car seat and carriage) and a swing that I no longer need and would like to donate. I don't want to sell on Craigslist or anything, i figure donating would be the best thing to do with it.
Anyone have any ideas of what organization would get the most use out of it? I would hate for it to be piled in a corner and unused.
Most places won't take car seats anymore because they cannot guarantee that it hasn't been in an accident or been recalled. They won't take other baby stuff sometimes too but car seats are the biggest worry.
I saw someone doing a Craigslist swap yesterday while I was out shopping and I just shook my head...buyer didn't even ask after the history of the carseat or check the expiration date on it.

Best to call up and ask - saves gas ;-)
I don't know where you are, but Family Service League is always in need. Also, your local house of worship probably knows of family who could use the car seat.
Thanks. It hasn't been in an accident, but I understand the concern. If they wont take it, i will just hold onto it to hand it down to someone I know then.
Nassau you could try St. Agnes outreach in Rockville center. Family service league in Huntington for Suffolk.
Also if you are in Nassau try calling Hour Children I used to bring them my baby stuff.
