I can show you one. The late Mayor Ed Cahill of the Village of Valley Stream:
He was a person who was in it for the public service, not for his own financial enrichment or his own ego.
From the article, sounded like he was someone who actually put people first. Nice to see. Unfortunately, I don't think this is all that common. Especially where I am (Brookhaven) where scandals are almost expected within a few years of election of any highly visible poltician.
Well I guess NYE beat me to hitting that the local "control" only controls about 30% of the budget. The biggest portion, employment/salaries, are outside the pervue of us mortal folks.
