raiser was kind enough to provide the link; the title is misleading because at the time it was posted, it would appear all the details weren't yet established.
No...its not "too familiar", all kidding aside were pretty frigging safe on LI violent crime wise.
Nassau in particular considering its proximity to NYC.
(160k a year safe to be precise lol)
They are floating that they "think" it was random. Sure it was. 4 "pros" in a tinted Crown Vic hit a "random" house in the least affluent section of North Bellmore that happens to be 10 blocks from the giant Emergency Services NCPD station...and they steal "thousands." Sounds random to me.
#1 town in the south shore of long island, hands down and people at the bottom will always hate.
Can't think of one town on the south shore that rivals it, with the abundance of resturants, fooderies, village, large perserve/bike trail, parks, beach clubs, golf course, LIRR and a large population with lots of business keeping the taxes lower than neighboring towns.

Coming from Massapequa I will admit that there are some nice amenities, but the congestion, the egos, and the fact that it buffers some of the not-so-nice parts of Amityville -- it's not the #1 town on the south shore of LI. I would tweak it to 'one of the best towns on the south shore of Nassau.'
Perhaps perps from Brooklyn should focus their sights further east of Bellmore.
