I am sure those of us who live in suffolk got a letter in the mail that they are installing new automatic "GREEN" water meters inside homes. My appointment is today. I won't have to call in the reading anymore, I beleive it is done remotely, in other words SCWA collects a radio signal from the water meter. Anyone else called to have there's changed?
They installed this in my house about a year ago. I haven't had any problems at all with it.
People in areas like California (or Australia) would practically kill for water bills as low as we have here on Long Island, LOL
I usually don't even keep my SCWA bill after paying it, but according to my Excel budget sheet my two quarterly bills so far this year have been $38 and $43. Last year's bills were $41, $41, $39 and $39. So $160 for the year which averages out to a little more than 13 bucks per month.
I see nothing to complain about there. And by most people's estimation I probably waste a lot of water: long showers, hand wash all dishes, and use an extra rinse cycle in the twice-a-week laundry. On the flip side, I don't have inground sprinklers, a pool, or a hot tub. So maybe my usage is "average" after all, who knows?
Those clown shoes NY American Water, not so much. Way back when I was living in Nassau and got my first bill from them I nearly had a stroke.
I thought for sure there was an error.
My average bill for LI Water co was approximately $50/55 every few months.
As soon as NY Clown Shoes took over it was $60 per MONTH! Like I said, thought there was an error, got the typical run around, "you must have a leak" "It's your sprinklers". Nah, I don't think so friend. After some scrutinizing I just realized they gave their rates some roids.Thieving skells.
