My partner and I own a coop in Merrick NY (Long Island). She dissolved the relationship in Jan 2011 and she is living in the coop and enjoying the benefits of the write off, etc. I have asked her to buy me out and she is considering doing this. My question is this:
Does the Stock Certificate and Proprietary Lease need to be changed or can a lawyer draw up a document regarding the buyout and will this suffice for her going forward. She doesn't care about the mortgage, I am fine with that, I am not looking to buy a property now or in the future. We just need help on the legalities of the stock and proprietary lease. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
