To start, 400K for a school super is ridiculous. That in addition to having too many Superinetndents.

However, the reality is that cutting all of their salaries or eliminating 90% of them would have a negligible effect on taxes. Again, I agree it should be done on principle alone.

Also, in relation to consolidation, I think you will have a lot of resistance from a majority of people on LI who don't want their "good" school district being considered in the same district as Wyandanch.

Regardless, a 250K salary for a Super should be more than enough to get qualified people in those positions.

Typical Mangano b.s.

How do people like this get into office?

They get elected by intelligent people instead of by Democrats.

Do you really believe Mangano invented the practice of hiring six-figure salary double dippers with six-figure pensions who can collect the pensions while working? Or, like the case of Lisa Murphy, gave 6 figure jobs out to completely unqualified, but politically connected individuals? Really?

I agree it's disgusting. However, it is certainly NOT a new policy made up by the Mangano administration. Or is this thread simply a piece of anti-Mangano propaganda and we should ignore all the politicians who have done/do this?

Riddle me this. Can you name a past County Executive who DIDN'T give patronage jobs compensated above market rate out like candy?

This reminds me of Mangano laying off workers back in December the same time Ciottis is hy closing hired into a $300K job, no one can honestly take him seriously.

Talk about mixed signals, he claims he is trying to cut costs by closing stations at the same time he is adding more salary by hiring more police deputies. Last year he gave a buyout incentive and removed the cap on lump sums to reduce payroll, several captains took the buyout. Now he promotes new people into management positions, what was the point in getting rid of those captains and fill similar positions a year later?

The taxpayers are looking for some reason to support his cost cutting but his management style appears to be something like someone suffering fromTurrets Syndrome.

Maybe I misunderstood? Are you inferring that the job isn't dangerous?

Mangano needs to hire new cops. New hires would be making around $40k instead of all the veterans that are on the job now racking up crazy OT.
Nobody is going to take the job once they find out that the pay steps have been frozen for 5 years, meaning new hires will be working @ 34K for 5 years.
