It's too poor an area for Whole Paycheck. Can't you just see all those folks from Amityville, Copiague and Lindenhurst just beating down the doors to buy that overpriced tofu?

Maybe because their target market does not live there.

There is exactly one town I can see a Whole Foods in on the South Shore - Sayville. Everything else is too blue-collar or worse.

Even then that is questionable. Everything north of 27A is more working class.

I'm thinking someplace that makes it easier for those who live in Babylon, Bay Shore, West Islip, East Islip, Sayville.....

A 20-ish minute drive in the summer with organic ice cream/frozen items is difficult! I've got a kid with multiple food allergies and I can't shop in the traditional supermarkets for him.

Good luck trying to get past South Shore Long Island NIMBYism ... it's impossible to get anything done in southwestern Suffolk and south shore Nassau.

If it's not a bank or a doctor's office it's going to be opposed tooth and nail by the NIMBY idiots stuck in the 1800s.
Grocery store/big box chain store = "it will cause too much traffic".
Fast food restaurant = "scary people will visit" (intended as a euphemism for Black people), or "kids will hang out", and of course "it will cause too much traffic".
7-11 or Dunkin Donuts = see above.

I bring organic produce and meats, dairy products, etc., home to LI from VT on a very frequent basis with no issues whatsoever.

20-30 minutes is nothing. Fill plastic water bottles and freeze them. 59 ounce OJ containers are good, too. Place a decent sized cooler in your vehicle, load with the ice, go shopping and bag your fresh and frozen apart from non-perishable/unrefridgerated items. Load the cooler with the cold/fresh/frozen items and head home. When you unload the cooler, toss your homemade ice blocks back into the freezer and you're good to go again.

I also keep the Trader Joes insulated zipper bags in my car for days when I am out and don't have time to head home for the cooler.
