This year's ceiling price of home heating oil went from $3.08 to $3.91 per gallon. What is your price for heating oil this year, or more specifically, did it go up by $0.83?

I go COD. Discount Fuel Oil. Getting delivery today @ 3.44/gallon. Paid 3.48 two weeks ago (got a small delivery to try them out, all went well, getting another today). Had a contract last year, price went one way. UP. Place I used last year's current price is 4.11

For what it's worth, the wholesale price of heating oil closed at $3.03-25/100 a gallon on Friday (November 18).

Retail heating oil prices tend to be at a $0.50 to $0.75 a gallon premium to the wholesale heating oil price as traded on the New York Mercantile Exchange, which would mean that a wholesale price of $3.03 a gallon would indicate a retail price of $3.53 to $3.78/gallon.

Had to change companies to get better price. Old company (Petro) offered 3.99 ceiling. New company(Swezey) 3.69 fixed with free service contract.

Petro.

Slomins wouldn't even quote me over the phone - I had to leave a number for someone to get back to me - I didnt want to be bothered.

Petro was good, as they gave me $100 credit for signing which I applied to a service contract, which became free.

Wait until next year, even if wholesale prices are the same as they are now, Petro won't touch that price again with a ten foot pole. I've had to leave them a couple of times in the past and always get a great price when I return as a new customer. Thats a great price, good for you.

I've heard this, also heard these places make it impossible for you to escape their contracts. I just don't like being tied down. But it is a great rate to be locked in at. Did you have any issues getting out when your contract was up?
