I go COD. Discount Fuel Oil. Getting delivery today @ 3.44/gallon. Paid 3.48 two weeks ago (got a small delivery to try them out, all went well, getting another today). Had a contract last year, price went one way. UP. Place I used last year's current price is 4.11

Retail heating oil prices tend to be at a $0.50 to $0.75 a gallon premium to the wholesale heating oil price as traded on the New York Mercantile Exchange, which would mean that a wholesale price of $3.03 a gallon would indicate a retail price of $3.53 to $3.78/gallon.

Wait until next year, even if wholesale prices are the same as they are now, Petro won't touch that price again with a ten foot pole. I've had to leave them a couple of times in the past and always get a great price when I return as a new customer. Thats a great price, good for you.

I've heard this, also heard these places make it impossible for you to escape their contracts. I just don't like being tied down. But it is a great rate to be locked in at. Did you have any issues getting out when your contract was up?
