Yes, Twingles is probably right on that point. Thank you LadyLara for that info. Another question- is it true that in Manhasset the main sport is lacrosse and GC emphasizes other sports as well?

GC's favorite sports are lacrosse and football; they are long-time lacrosse rivals

Lacrosse starts to take over by 3rd grade. Baseball and soccer are big until then. GC and Manhasset are lacrosse powerhouses.

Had to laugh when I read this...I moved to Garden City a year ago, and I have to say a year ago the sentence above would have meant nothing to me, but I now have a son with like 6 pairs of lacrosse shorts and even more lacrosse bracelets I made for him!

So far I've found most of the people in GC super nice (folks were more snooty when I lived in neighboring Stewart Manor). We were nervous about the town's obsession with sports, but we just joined the summer baseball league and we're having a blast! Low pressure and my son loves it. It's also a nice way to meet other parents in town.

I'm in the western section, so we're bordering New Hyde Park and Stewart Manor, which are good areas. I stayed away from the Eastern section as it seems crime is up in that area.

You really can't lose picking either town, they both are great! Good luck to you!

Looked at 26 Summit today. Great house but it's already got a few offers.

I can't help but get the feeling that Manhasset is on the quieter side and GC has more to do/more happening in the town. Am I wrong? Today Manhasset was dead. I didn't see one kid playing outside while I drove around. In GC, St Paul's Cathedral field was packed with kids. I am not familiar enough with either town to know what usually goes on. This was just one day.

Although GC had lots and lots of planes flying overhead when I was looking at a house there today. Is this typical for all of the sections of GC or do some sections have it worse than others? I was in the estates. It seemed to be quite excessive. Thank you!

Um.... yes GC has issues with plane noise.

I think on the North Shore on summer weekends, people gravitate towards water endeavors.. be it boating, swimming or just hanging out. That's we all did as kids.

There has been lots of trouble between the GC government and the state over the plane noise, it doesn't bother me really but people do complain about it.

Does all of GC have this issue with low flying planes and noise or are some parts worse than others?
