OMG! I never heard of this! I know some cheapskates that would take that dollar and wash it off no matter what was on it!
I always told my children to wash their hands after handling money because they don't know where it has been. My usual examples were a stripper's g-string or a coke fiend's nose. Until today, I never knew about poop dollar -- it shall be added to my repertoire.
They did something similar in the first Mighty Ducks movie: filled a pocket book with poop, left it on the street with a dollar hanging out and then watched as a man picked it up and reached in.
I contacted news12 and so far the producer I spoke to seemed interested but she said she was going to do a little digging. I said "just drive your van around any day to popular shopping centers and you can't miss them."

Some of the people have stated the father looks Hispanic. News12 tends to avoid doing anything that will paint the Hispanic population in a negative light.
The ones I saw in Farmindale by Walmart looked more "gypsy" like similar to someone posted previously. The man was darker skinned but the woman was very colorful.
The local Patch online newspapers have picked up the story.
