Not AWACS, must have been E-2. AWACS is a Boeing product. It is also a Jet.

Like others have said, the guy probably decided to pay off his mortgage with the money he got for retirement. They have been offering the VRIF lately, which stands for Voluntary Reduction In Force. There's some incentive for taking it. Many people close to retirement take this when it comes up.

Yeah it was the E2C which was flight tested out of bethpage until the community had flight testing banned there due to fear of a crash.

You could even bring guests that didn't work there. Those were the days I get emonicial thinking about it.
This train was at the Long Island Rail Road exibit at the 1964-65 NY World's Fair (Pre MTA). Grumman bought it for their family events. I think it was painted red, white & blue. This same train is now at the Railroad Museum of Long Island in Riverhead, repainted in the old blue & orange LONG ISLAND paint scheme. You can ride it for $2. Its really cool

...and the carousel from the Grumman family picnic is alive and well, enclosed in a glass dome at Mitchell Park in Greenport. I rode it last year, it was only a dollar or two !
